Hotel Oktogon Haggenmacher

I really wanted to like this place! It’s a very nice space and it’s in a great central location. The staff is made up of mostly very young very nice very friendly kids. There were just too many problems with my stay to give it a good review. When I checked in they gave me a very small, but very nice interior facing room on the second floor. The first night I was there I woke up to the awful smell of sewage (backed up plumbing) which lingered all night. I complained the next morning, and they were not surprised. The guy at the front desk said they had been having thst problem on and off since they opened. They said they would send maintenance up to fix it. Thst night, the same exact thing happened. Just an awful smell. The next morning they offered to move me. They moved me to a very nice room on the same floor. Only this room was located directly next to the utility closet used by the cleaning staff to store all their carts and cleaning stuff and towels and sheets, every morning starting at 7:45 I got to listen to the cleaning staff laughing and chatting and banging carts and starting their day. Luckily I get up early, but I can only imagine what it’s like for people who might actually want to sleep in the mornings. Like I wrote, I really wanted to like this place, but I found the bad smell in the first room, and then how they moved me next to the cleaning staffs utility closet very very off putting!

First time staying at the Hotel Oktogon. We were impressed with the architecture and the cleanliness. The rooms were clean and the AC worked great. Central location close to the Metro. Our family would definitely stay here again!
