I have been struggling a little bit with the best way to describe our first stay with Wikkid, but I think I've got it. Our time here was like putting on your favorite pair of jeans- like this place was made just for us. We loved our room with a view the water. Smokey's Grill has amazing food and cocktails. The diving was fun, but also safe and professional. The whole family provided us with warm hospitality. We will be back!

Sadly, this potentially pretty small dive resort was a complete disaster in every sense. We arrived at the time we had told the owner we would, but no one was there to greet us. Our first(!) room - the property's best, supposedly - was equipped with a kitchen, but not a single glass, cup, utensil, plate, or anything. We couldn't even get a glass of water. The bathroom sink tap was non-functional, barely dripping when taps were wide open. After walking past the algae-green pool and seeing a nearby beach, I lay down for a rest before dinner. 30 minutes later, the ceiling was crawling with bugs coming through the roof where the ceiling fan was mounted. They were soon dropping on the bed - and we were out the door to tell the owner we needed another room. He opened one for us - and then could not find the air conditioning controller, leaving the room uninhabitable, not to mention a light that strobed constantly. Off he went to another room - where he discovered that even though unused for days, it had not been cleaned and prepped. By now, waiting for yet another failure was too much, and we left for another hotel. The owner of Wikkid was pleasant, and called a taxi and paid for our transfer - but we'd rather he had put that energy into making his own property what we had expected. We were told he had bought the place not long before COVID destroyed tourism, so I'm sympathetic with the problems he faces - but it's just not excusable when it affects his customers so seriously.

Wikkid is a truly unique stay. We stayed in a few places and Wikkid was the most tucked away secret hide out. This is off the beaten path a little and away from the tourist areas. It is very quiet and relaxing. there are some sand flies so in this area, bug spray is helpful. There is no beach - though one at a hotel next door which is ok but just for wading or sitting in the shallows. Off the dock at Wikkid, there is a reef you can snorkel out to with some of the best corals we saw, an abundant array of fish and shallow coral gardens to deep canyons to swim over and through. It takes a minute to swim out but is well worth it. We also were lucky enough to get on a catamaran snorkel excursion one of the days we were there and though it was a little rough, the areas we went to were nice to snorkel in. Kendall, Eric and the team were excellent hosts and we looked forward to coffee and breakfast each day. The main building was really rustic, island style and a nice place to hang out and enjoy the peacefulness. And the bed was GREAT!! Already looking forward to next time.
