The Mercure is ideally situated by old Hamelin, within a five minute walk you're in the heart of the old town. The hotel isn't a new build but has been well maintained. The is a small parking place at the front of the hotel for approximately a dozen cars. We arrived late evening and it was full so parked in instead in the underground parking for the town hall, which has a direct exit for the hotel and costs €8.50 and via the hotel. The breakfast offering is a wide selection from continental, German, and cooked with a great selection of coffee, teas and quality juices. Although breakfast is included automatically, it shouldn't be missed. We were travelling as a family with two children aged 10 and 7, and it was easy to cater for them. Would also recommend Cafe Am Ring across the park to the hotel and we ate well there too.

Made a stop-over in Hameln on our way back from. The Mercure looked like a hotel that would suit us and it did. Walking distance to the city center convenient for our dinner. Situated next to a pretty large park with playgrounds for kids. Good if you are travelling with kids and want to give them a chance to lose some energy. Friendly and helpful staff. We were there Saturday night and the other guests seemed to be tourists like us or middleaged (or older people) who were on a weekend trip. The hotel (meetingrooms, layout etc) seemed more suited for business travellers tha tourists. But fairly easy access to and from the main roads made it convenient for us. Unfortunately there seemed to some sort of concert (official or unofficial) in the park next door. The bass beat woke us up a couple of times during the night so it might be good advice to ask for a room facing away from the park (at least during the hot summer nights). The hotel claims to have ac but we could not find a panel to turn it on or adjust it so I don`t know if they have ac or not. Better ask when you arrive. Can`t tell you about the breakfast since we had to leave to catch a ferry before they started serving breakfast. But the staff offered to give us a lunch pack for the road. Nice touch but we declined. Brötchen that have been sitting overnight in a paperbag is not my cup of tea. To sum it up: decent hotel for a short stay but not a place where you would be comfortable staying for a longer period.
