Holiday Inn Hamburg - Berliner Tor, an IHG Hotel

Unfortunately this place was a big disappointment for us. Large stains on the carpet, hairs all over in the bathroom when we checked in, no toiletries (not even hand soap). No wash cloths. The gel shampoo/body wash that was hanging on the wall in the bathroom had a strong unpleasant scent. Poor plumbing in the bathroom sink- the water was slow to drain. Cleaning service did not come until the evening so our beds were not made/garbage not emptied when we came home from our all day outing. Nor were there fresh towels. After asking, we were given fresh towels and toilet paper. On top of this we were woken up at 7 am on a Saturday by very loud construction directly outside our window. There were often people “wandering” the halls (grown ups and children) or standing around and talking in the halls. Another guest mentioned that it may be long term guests who live at the hotel more permanently. However, that is unclear. There were no English tv channels and no streaming onto the hotel tv unless you have a Samsung device. Which we did not. So the tv was useless. On the day of checkout we got trapped in the underground hotel parking lot for almost two hours due to a power outage. The elevators as well as the exit port shut down. This caused us to miss out on our morning plans and set us back on our whole trip for the next day. Compensation would be appreciated.
