Hotel Römerhof

Baden-Baden is the town so famous for its Baths, it's named for them - twice. Any visit there is incomplete without a steam and soak at the Roman-Irish bath or at least a dip at the Caracalla pools. Thus, it makes sense to stay nearby. You're also steps from the lively town center of restaurants and shopping. The casino is five minutes away as well. Location aside, the Romerhof featured bright, comfortable rooms, relatively large by European standards. As we were travelling as a couple + 1 child + 1 grandmother, we were especially grateful that they accommodated our request for one room with the usual "double" bed and one room with two singles, as not every hotel on this trip was able to do this for us. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we did not want for anything during our visit. Buffet breakfast was the usual for Germany - meats, cheeses, bread, cereal, some fruit and good coffee. Parking is the only tricky bit. There's a curb-side loading area for checking in/out (pull up onto the cobbled curb next to the walking path), but overnight parking is at one of the nearby Public lots. The Vincenti lot is 2 minutes away up the hill to the east, and always had space when we tried it, but I'm not sure if it might be full during busy peak season. Overnight rates ranged from 9€ to 11€, depending on when we arrived for the afternoon/evening, pay before leaving at the automated kiosk on the ground floor.
