Hotel Dann Carlton Quito

I'm sorry to give this hotel such a bad review but my family and I are pretty upset. We stayed in this hotel with the idea of kind of "Staycation" as we live here in Quito and we just wanted to experience the great hotel. Unfortunately, we left very disappointed. We brought our kids for the experience of the hotel. They wanted to work out in the gym. Unfortunately, they weren't allowed. They wanted to swim in the pool. They were told they had to buy swimming caps. Neither of things were listed on the website as requirements. My daughter and my wife wanted to have the great experience of having tea in the tea room. She asked customer service if she needed to reserve a time for the tea room. She was told that she didn't need. Unfortunately, when they went to have their tea party, the same people said that they couldn't because another group had made a reservation and that there wasn't any other time available before they needed to leave. How disappointed was my daughter by this treatment! We left very discouraged and disappointed after being treated like this with such a nice hotel.

We booked our hotel stay for a family of 5 (3 children, ages 5 and under) and could not have been more pleased with our stay. The rooms were beautifully, and elegantly decorated, and the hotel was very modern. We enjoyed walking to a variety of locations nearby, including the huge Quicentro Mall. There are also a number of restaurants, both modern and traditional Ecuadorian in the surrounding area. Our two disappointments were that the hot tub in the otherwise wonderful fitness center had a good bit of scum on the sides of the pool, and that there was no guest laundry center (however, there was a nice laundry facility about two buildings down). The hotel does offer laundry service, but it is a bit expensive, especially when traveling with children. The hotel staff was all friendly and helpful, and many spoke English, which ended up being helpful for us. We recommend this hotel for both childless travelers and families, although the hotel is not designed specifically for children.

The gym and pool close way too early. Also, the gym is way too crowded because its open to the public. The pool closes at 4 on the weekend. It made my kids very upset and ruined our stay.
