Milling Hotel Park

Nice large room (family room, double bed with sofa bed). The double bed was actually just two single beds moved together, and if you ended up in the middle, the beds actually slipped apart (happened during night). Perhaps an improvement would be to attach them to each other to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately our room were placed just over the kitchen, so the kitchen ventilation made a very annoying sound until around 2130 which made it very hard for our kids to fall asleep. Staff were friendly when we complained and offered another room in another building. Trains passing rather frequent outside the hotel rather close, so if you are sensitive to sounds perhaps you should look elsewhere. Breakfast ok and the free ice cream was appreciated.

The hotel is easy to find on the 161 with a large car park. Received a very warm welcome from receptionist who also gave us a pack of information on the area. Easy short walk into main town and old harbour area (5 mins). Slightly longer walk to the marina (15mins). We stayed in a 1st floor family room which was double aspect overlooking the main front garden and the main road. Room was relatively spacious and the glazing blocked out any noise. Although on a main road it was quiet over night as we slept with windows open as it was super hot during our visit. Double bed and sofa bed both comfortable. Walk in wet room style shower. All clean and in good condition. Very limited English on TV. Daily room service. Breakfast was good and ample with cooked options, cereals and pastries together with cold meat/cheese. Buffet style. Breakfast was busy but items were restocked. Did not eat at hotel but food looked OK buffet style. During our visit there were substantial works underway creating a most impressive glazed space. The works did not distract from our enjoyment, in fact it gave us something to consider with how efficiently and quickly jobs were completed. Bar was quiet and a little dark. Real plus point is the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day long together with an ice cream machine and fruit basket. Free cakes served in the afternoon in the bar. We enjoyed sitting out in the garden. Ground floor rooms have direct access. Great value hotel.
