Royal Airport Hotel

There were no staff on check-in overnight, so our key was left out for us as we were arriving late. That worked fine, but didn’t feel very safe. Most of the breakfast food was gone the next morning with not many options left - this breakfast was poor. But otherwise the hotel was great for what we needed - something close to the airport for a late arrival and with room for a family.

I guess I should not have high expectations from am airport hotel, however when they say they have 4 stars, I do have certain criteria in my Head. Firstly, the reception room stunk of cigarettes. The service of check-in was good. I asked about iron, they told me that in every floor there is a room to go and iron, showed me the example of such room on the ground floor. However, on the 2nd floor I was staying, this room did not actually have an iron, just dusty laundry kind of room with a hoover etc. Same was in the 1st floor. To add, I was given a room with two single beds even though I was on my own. It didn’t seem that hotel was full with no other room available. The single beds were tiny, more like kids beds. The sheets seemed clean but the carpet…I was struggling to think that I would have to walk on it barefoot. Adding the picture to show. Breakfast was ok but limited, especially because I came towards 10am. But staff were very friendly.

Amazing airport hotel! The staff are delightful, the rooms large and spotlessly clean, and the restaurant “Fork” was great! I had the sliders with their secret sauce. The best baby burgers in Europe!

The fact that the carpet was super stained was not appealing at all. Lack of bedding, pillows, sheets. We had a small child that shared bed with us, the hotel provides two pillows per room with extra pillow inserts in the closet but no extra sheets or pillowcases. The curtain was basically in the kitchen sink, hung inappropriately without option to move it out of the sink. The light switches are too complicated, and glow bright blue light when you turn off the light so no way to sleep comfortably. Bedroom had multiple glowing switches. We asked for an additional sheet, and got duvet cover instead. Not worth 750kn that we paid for one night. Bathroom looked nice and had extra shampoos and towels. There was a nice coffee station and a fridge but kitchen didn't have any bowls or spoons to eat with. Not sure if you need to ask for those. The hotel room was ok but not 4 stars. They use the fact that they are by the airport to charge extra money for it.
