Barceló San José

The hotel grounds were beautiful. The only complaint is there are only double beds if you book a room with two beds. Can make for an uncomfortable sleep if you’re a family of four.

I have stayed at the Barcelo many times, I love the people who work there, always polite and treat me like family. I wish the pool could be just a little warmer.

Comfortable room and amenities. Convenient little shop, bar, restaurant onsite. There was a clear/big communication breakdown for complimentary shuttle from the airport ( ended up paying from my pocket for taxi); when asked, hotel staff kept saying that they did not received the information on time ( even when I showed the email as an evidence). No accountability/ responsibility at all, even when I explained that I booked this hotel specifically for transportation as I was travelling with young child. VIP access facility- but I did not received any “extra” service or upgrade. bit disappointing!

I wasn’t able to check -in at 2 pm. Room not available. Expedia said 2 pm, property said 3 pm. A room became available until 3:45pm. I didn’t have the appropriate room for 3 guests. my reservation said a “King or Two Double beds”, so I assumed being 3, I could get Two Double Beds, but when I checked in they said they only had oneKing bed room. We were 3, so they ended up giving me 1 Double bed and a single bed in a tiny room. Other guests in my group had paid half the price I paid. The property referred me to Expedia for my claims! I think Expedia does not manage the property’s information and is tricky when they tell you King or two double-beds (watch out for that!). When check out, I asked why I was charged for a child (6yr old). The property said, they don’t charge for children. On the reservation in Expedia it says: guests of any age, are considered adults at this property😡! Expedia was a rip-off!!

The rooms were very nice and spacious for my family of 5. The amenities on the property were nice such as the pool which had a large area and a fitness room which was exquisite the buffet breakfast had a large variety of options of American and traditional Costa Rican breakfast

Our stay at the Barceló San José was very clean, safe, and inviting. Our VIP access gave us a junior suite that was roomy and very comfortable. We would recommend these accommodations to friends and family.

We stayed two nights after long flight to rest a bit before starting our trip. It is a nice hotel, the room was a bit small for a family of four. The location is great if you want to be close to the airport.
