Hotel Bosque del Mar, Playa Hermosa

Wow..what a hidden jewel ! Food is a little pricey! Great couple retreat! My kids had fun but adult menu and pricing! But room/area/stagf! ceaser is amazing! Texas loves you & your help!

The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The rooms are a 1 minute walk from the beach, the latter of which was calm, warm, and relaxing. The pelicans also come in groups and make their way down the beach water diving for fish around sunset time which was a great experience There are iguanas on the property and birds all around. We heard the howler monkeys but didn’t see any, though we only spent 1 night. The pool was quaint, warm, had a small jacuzzi, and was really lovely for having a young child. There is a lovely restaurant at the hotel. You feel like you're in the forest in the rooms. Hot water is abundant and the rooms are cool with air condition. The only downside is that the beds were too firm for my taste. Overall it was a lovely stay and I would highly recommend.

A very quaint and unique hotel with a restaurant that has some of the best food I’ve eaten anywhere in the world. I was slightly worried because someone said there were howler monkeys that kept them awake but me and the kids did see or hear any during our stay.

The hotel property is beautiful, but the hotel lacks some very basic things, which did not make it worth the money in my opinion. No umbrellas or shades in the beach (they rely on shade by trees, which did not always work and had all guests pulling chairs around), very narrow beach access next to a public beach entrance with lots of people. The pool did not have lights (inside the pool or in the surrounding area) making it difficult to use at night. There was not wet bar/snack area....there is only one restaurant (main floor) and one bar area (second floor) but neither allow swimsuits and there was no service by the pool. This kind of broke our day because we had to dress up to have lunch in the middle of the day. The safe in the room did not work and it took two calls for staff to tell us it was the batteries that often run out and they ended up giving us a key instead of using the code option. The hotel did not include breakfast and there was no bottled water provided like other hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. The a/c unit was loud and seemed to take a long time to cool. There were monkeys climbing trees over the pool area right outside the rooms. It was fun for the kids, but these are howling monkeys super loud as early as 4am and it made me thing they probably were pooping into the pool. So fun, but not in a practical sense. Other than this, we enjoyed free parking across the street and the convenience of a smaller boutique hotel right next to the beach (steps away).

Beautiful grounds and everything is a 30 second walk which makes it nice for familes with small children. Some of the staff were great like the parking lot attendant who volunteered to wash my car at no charge but ither hotel employees (restaurant staff) are inattentive and extremely forgetful. Some also seemed quite annoyed with some of our average requests. Overall, nice hotel but the staff could use an upgrade.

Very cool property. It felt like the jungle grew right into the property. Very unique vibe to have jungle and be 50’ from the beach. They were remodeling the 12 beachfront units so unfortunately there was construction noise all day but we understood. It will be really nice when they complete the renovations. Were were in one of the 3rd floor suites which was plenty roomy, just needs updating. Staff was fantastic. Fabian was very attentive to our needs. Food was prepared very well. Grounds were well kept up. The pool was very nice but unfortunately had kids in it most of the time so not as calming as we hoped for. Because you are enveloped in the beautiful trees, you don’t really have a traditional “ Ocean View”. Beach was clean and location was quiet.

Our family had a wonderful stay. We were welcomed with delicious drinks and taken to our spacious suite. The restaurants were wonderful. We enjoyed dinner every night with Jonathan. Loved the location on the beach. The concierges were wonderful and made us feels so welcome, especially Roy. He was so friendly and helpful our entire trip. We can't wait to come back.

I purposely booked the Ocean facing suite for the Jacuzzi. However, to our surprise, the jacuzzi did not work. We found out late into 10pm, and the staff attempted to fix the jacuzzi for us. However, it didn't work and we were offered to move into another Ocean facing room with a Jacuzzi but short of one queen size bed. Our family was disappointed. In addition the two televisions in our suite did not allow us to change the language - ended up only Spanish shows.

Beautiful property and rooms! We had a family suite and it was spacious and comfortable. Really nice hotel with a stunning beach. Also really close to the airport which was super convenient for our last night in Costa Rica.

We were only there for one night. But it was enjoyable and relaxing. Hotel Bosque is a nice property, right on the beach. The water was tranquil and warm. The pool was decent too. The porter was particularly helpful and watched over the beach quite a bit too. Our room was not the best--it was not what we reserved. After a bit of back and forth at the desk, they comped our family a lovely three course dinner, with smoothies etc. included. They also comped us breakfast (though that may have already been included.) Regardless, they make a good effort to make up for us not having the room we booked, which is greatly appreciated. The other room we booked was as expected and very nice.
