We had a fantastic family trip on this hotel right at the base of the volcano

Amazing stay! The staff is so kind so helpful and generous. Our room was the junior suite and it was luxurious. The upstairs sports bar had the best staff . Only thing was the pool bartender was so overworked and busy we had to wait a little for drinks and got hot tub wasn’t too hot. But really no big deal compared to how amazing everything else was.breakfast was delicious and We walked to downtown for dinners(very close to everything). Restaurants nearby were amazing as well. All the yours picked us up right at hotel as well and hotel helped plan all tours. We will definitely be coming back again!

I had to give this property just so/so review. Upon check in we were put on different floors from the others in our group even though we were told we were with them but our room wasn't ready. When we went to get the key we were on a different floor with no view as we booked. Also the toilet would get stuck every time we flushed and we had to remove the lid and fix, the spa tub had a lot of wear and looked like it would take hours to fill with the tiny spout. As I was asking about the location of my room not being by the others in my party they were giving the room we were supposed to have, next to my kids room, to another guest who checked in after us. I was told sorry nothing they could do. Later I returned and the night crew offered to move me the next day to a closer room on the proper floor with my group. I accepted and moved on. Why didn't the first girl offer that? The Bartender by the pool was great! Offered us recommendations on tours and restaurants and was very friendly. The pool needed some serious cleaning and chemicals though. I know it's a hot humid climate but I own. pool and know the upkeep it needs. He made this place worth the stay. Fernando! We had an excellent stay at hotel magic mountain. The property is well maintained with spacious rooms which is great for families with kids. The hotel is located just a few minutes from la fortuna downtown providing easy access to restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would defintiely recommend this hotel.

After our flight to Costa Rica was canceled, we were able to book on another airline at a later date. However, our lodging options were limited. We were able to get rooms last-minute here. We pulled up to an older property. The staff at the front desk was accommodating. We got to our room. It was very small and quite frankly, depressing. It had a balcony with a view of the pool and volcano, which was nice, but that was about it. We went downstairs and requested a suite, paid the upcharge, and moved. The suite was much larger and nicer. However, the air did not work. Maintenance made multiple attempts to fix it. Finally, we were moved into two regular rooms in another building. These rooms were nicer than the first room we had, and the air worked. They even offered for us to keep the suite for space, giving us three rooms to spread out in, but we declined, as the air not working was a deterrent. Breakfast was included, and "okay" for a buffet-style, included breakfast. We had dinner at the restaurant the first night, and would not recommend. Every time we wanted a drink from the pool bar, we had to find someone to come bartend. And then it took forever to get drinks. The provided "beach" towels were old and mismatched. We had a photographer come take family pictures, and the staff was very accommodating about us taking pictures around the property. I believe the staff did their best; it is just an older property that needs attention.

I'm really happy with all aspects of this hotel. It's not walking distance from downtown though, but a taxi will cost around $4 and will take about 5 minutes. There are nearby restaurants and a supermarket that you can walk to. Terrific staff and clean rooms. Good for families with children.
