HAB Hotel

Very cute hotel in a nice area. The staff generally have an attitude, like the wannabe cool kids in high school. But if you manage to ignore that, the rest is really good. A small gym, with the essential equipment for a decent workout. Breakfast is good, but limited. Rooms are small, but cute. Overall a very good value for money.

Beautifully-decorated hotel marred by generally unfriendly staff, paper-thin walls, and a poorly-equipped gym. Service at the cafe/restaurant is off-putting, with a rather apathetic and gossipy staff that are prone to vulgar language; for example, a homophobic slur is commonplace. I understand this word (mar-) is colloquially-prevalent and even endearing amongst close friends in Colombia, but in a professional environment welcoming a global community with unique backgrounds and lived experiences, it’s disheartening to overhear this frequently. I felt uncomfortable by the cursing and was eager to leave. Additionally, I was unlucky to have a family with two young children stay in the adjacent room. The walls are so thin that I woke up at four in the morning from the kids’ wailing. The fault isn’t on the family - it’s on the lack of soundproofing. The room layout is also strange, with a pointless sofa in the entryway, and a window overlooking a brick building. Lastly, the gym is incomplete (but better than nothing). The location, however, is brilliant, and the entrance/lobby quite gorgeous, with plentiful security. There are extraordinary eats just steps away: the restaurant Mini Mal is an essential stop if you’re around, Overall - rather disappointing, with plenty of roof for improvement.
